Fellow Legionnaires, brothers and sisters, the question that is brought up to me most often is where does all of that Gambling money go? We have all of the general bills to pay that cover payroll, supplies, and a ton in taxes, especially the State of Minnesota that last month garnered over $22,000.00.
For example, in May Gambling paid over $3,500.00 in lawful expenditures for the Club. Who benefitted you wonder? Our Memorial, the Color Guards, Boy Scout Troop 205 (which we sponsor), both Apple Valley (Girls Lacrosse) and Eastview High School received funds for their Special Education Programs for very special needs children.Fort Snelling also received funds along with Operation Military Kids. The biggest check going out is for the Apple ValleyFreedom Foundation (don’t know why they feel they can no longer say the 4th of July (must be political correctness) for $9,500.00 to give them seed money and to help with the spectacular fly-over that we have supported for many years now.
That in a nutshell covers what some of the Gambling money covers. If you would like to see the full report come to our monthly general meeting and we can discuss the report over the free drink that it is the tradition of the Commander to buy.
Yours in Comradeship,
