Post 1776 Veteran honored

Post #1776 member Greg Oxley, along with 2 other local area veterans, were honored at a special luncheon of the Eagan Rotary held on Wednesday, November 14th at the Lost Spur Golf and Event Center in Eagan.

Oxley, an Air Force Pilot was a forward air controller flying out of Ton Son Nhut Air Force Base and a KC-135 Pilot at Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota, represented veterans of the Viet Nam War and his fellow veterans represented Korea and World War II, respectively. In addition to the “Eagan Rotary Service Award” plaque, a $100 donation was made in the name of each honoree to a veteran’s charity of his choice. Greg directed his donation to the “40 & 8” Club at Apple Valley Post #1776, which raises money for nurse’s education.

In receiving the award, Greg told the group that his job in Viet Nam, while dangerous, was an enlarging experience that helped reaffirm his faith in God.

Greg is retired after 36 years representing governmental affairs for cooperative and municipal utilities. He and his wife, Patricia, have lived in Eagan since 2006. They have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Currently, Greg serves as the Chair of the Eagan Energy Commission, Secretary on the Dakota County Planning Commission and Vice President of the Dakota County Historical Society.
