Service Officer Rich Davey February, 2012
The next time you’re having a conversation with a Vet that’s not a member of the American Legion or a neighbor that asks you “what does the Legion do?” Your reply should be, “It’s about serving our community and helping our fellow citizens.”
It’s about Minnesota Boys State, it’s about grade schoolers at Legionville School Safety Patrol Training Camp, it’s about Grants to disabled Minnesota Veterans, it’s about scholarships to over 1500 high school students in Minnesota and the list goes on. Be proud to be part of the Minnesota American Legion and Post 1776, Apple Valley!
Looking back in history for February, on the 19th in 1945, the Battle of Iwo Jima began, on the 23rd in 1991 Desert Storm ground war began and ended four days later…after 100 hours!
The next General Membership meeting is 21 Feb, Tuesday. It sure would be nice to see more of our members attend. It’s YOUR POST and you do have INPUT.
Finally, a bumper sticker seen on a military base: “My kid fought in Iraq so your kid could party in college”!
Have a great month, remember, there are 29 days this month!
For God and Country, Rich
