American Legion Post 1776

Serving Veterans since 1976

Marv Jarvis – RIP

1 min read

I was saddened to learn this evening that Marv has passed away. Marv touched so many lives here at Post 1776. He was a kind, gentle, compassionate man who volunteered years of his life at Post 1776.

Marv has been a member of Post 1776 for 34 years and has served as our Post Commander (twice) and as Gambling Manger among his most notable duties. He served in the US Navy from 1966 to 1970 and got to serve on the then newly commissioned USS John F. Kennedy.

Our sincere condolences to his family and his wife Raeleen.

We will all miss you my friend. Rest in Peace.

  1. Crossing the Bar
    by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

    Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!

And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
    Turns again home.

    Twilight and evening bell,
    And after that the dark!

And may there be no sadness of farewell,
    When I embark;
For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar

For your support of the American Veteran we wish you Fair Winds and a Following Sea, Marv, fair winds.
