At our February General Membership meeting, Third District Commander Carla Tappainer presented the Legacy Scholarship Award to our Post 1776 Commander Dick Tollefson.
” The organization (American Legion) is committed to honoring the memory and service of their fallen and disabled comrades by ensuring that their children are afforded the best possible educational opportunities. The American Legion expanded the scholarship to include children of VA-rated, post-9/11 veterans with a disability of 50 percent or higher. The number of awards varies and each award made is good for one year and may be up to $20,000.” – USAscolarships.com
