Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans

Hello & Welcome Home.

American Legion Post 1776 is now in partnership with the United States of America Vietnam Veterans Commemoration.

The federal legislation, as penned by Congress, established the United States Vietnam War Commemoration to thank and honor Vietnam War Veterans. March 29th is the National Vietnam War Veterans Day; it joins six other military-centered national holidays codified into law. The Commemoration makes no distinction between veterans who served in country, in theater, or who were stationed elsewhere during the Vietnam War period.

The commemoration recognizes all who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families, at any time during the period of November 1 1955 to May 15 1975, regardless of duty location.

We are excited to be participating in this long overdue Welcome Home to Vietnam War Veterans on Sunday March 29th 2020. The ceremony is limited to 200 guests. RSVP to EventRSVP@Post1776.com with your name and your one guest’s name (no more than 1 guest).

  1. Finally. You finally get the Welcome Home you deserve. It may be a long time since you left Vietnam, came home after serving elsewhere during the war away from the theatre or here in the States. You may have been encouraged to take off your uniform before leaving the airport, driving home or stopping by your favorite watering hole because America didn’t appreciate your service, perhaps spat on you because of your service or just didn’t want to hear about how you served. All that changes on Sunday, March 29th, National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

The Apple Valley American Legion, Post 1776, will welcome you home, honor your Service, fill your gut and show you how much we care about you. Our Legion, in partnership with The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, John Hunter’s Welcome Home Committee, the Legion Staff, community businesses and others have put together a nice breakfast, program and celebration of your Vietnam War Service. If you served from November 1, 1955 through May 15, 1975 the Commemoration and the Legion recognizes all who served on active duty regardless of duty location. Sunday, March 29th is National Vietnam War Veterans Day and we all hope you bring a guest so our Post and all who support our Post can welcome you home, finally.

Don’t forget to RSVP on the Post’ Website, our appreciation for your Service is bondless but the space at the Post is limited.
